LUCKY TEXTILES Teams Up in the Battle Against Cancer

October 2, 2025 – JANET GUST

For the second straight year LUCKY TEXTILES has contributed custom-designed tote bags to the American Cancer Society - Houston Cattle Baron’s Ball. The Wine, Whiskey & Spirits Committee proudly hit its fundraising goal of $15,000, thanks in part to the stunning design collaboration between LUCKY TEXTILES and Janet Gust Design Group. Handcrafted from fabrics in the LUCKY TEXTILES Upcycled Collection, each tote dangles a handwritten “thank you” message from a guest of Hope Lodge Houston, a Medical Center area haven that provides no-cost housing, support and sanctuary for cancer patients and their caregivers.

For nearly 40 years, major cities across the US  have held boots and buckles-themed galas to raise millions of dollars for cancer patient care and research. In 2024, American Cancer Society - Houston raised more than $6 million through fundraising events. The American Cancer Society is investing five times that amount in the Houston area at a tune of nearly $30 million in projects, including Hope Lodge Houston.
“Like so many people, cancer has touched the lives of people I love,” said Janet Gust. “Contributing to events like the Cattle Baron’s Ball is a way for me to support an organization that profoundly impacts individuals and families.”

The American Cancer Society’s mission is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. The gala was held at the Hilton Americas Downtown Houston on Saturday, September 20.
