We’re tipping our Stetsons to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo volunteers who put education and literacy at the front of the line. Six hard-working and dedicated women will be honored this Friday, February 6, at the 26th Annual HLSR Trailblazer Awards Luncheon & Fashion Show. We are celebrating honorees Tammy Barrier, Lisa Blackwood, Beth Cardono, Wendy Lewis Armstrong, Jennifer Lowery, and Julie Sacco. Trailblazer Committee programs include Rodeo ROPES, putting books in the hands of elementary school children, and SPURS which spearheads a writing contest for 4th graders. Each day at the Rodeo, Trailblazers lead Rodeo Read Along at the fairgrounds to help foster the love of books.
The luncheon will culminate with a Saks Fifth Avenue fashion show. It is estimated that more than 2,000 Western styled boot-scooters will fill the ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Houston. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo runs from March 2 through March 22.
